Huangpu extends open arms to high-level talents

Guangzhou's Huangpu district added 17 cooperative academicians, four academician workstations, and 116 high-level talents in 2021.

As of now, the district has gathered a total of 106 academicians and 1,204 high-level talents. The number of local innovation teams account for 70 percent of Guangzhou's total, the number of entrepreneurship teams account for 60 percent, and the number of leading innovation talents account for 50 percent.

Zhao Yuliang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led his team to Huangpu in late 2019 and established a nano science and technology innovation research institution there. As Zhao puts it, Huangpu provides a broad stage for high-level talents to innovate and start their own business, which is described to be the closest thing to success.

In terms of innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, the district is home to 26 provincial new-type R&D institutions, eight provincial high-level innovation research institutes, more than 2,100 high-tech enterprises, over 1,000 high-end R&D institutions, over 30,000 science and technology small and medium-sized enterprises, and 21 academician workstations.

Meanwhile, Huangpu has established a comprehensive talent support system which covers leading talents, middle-level cadres, and grassroots workers from different fields. The incentives include R&D subsidies, housing, and children's education, among others.
