Updated : 2022-01-10

WeRide, an autonomous driving startup in Guangzhou's Huangpu district, launched its Robobuses on Guangzhou International Bio Island on Jan 7.

The Robobuses are electric vehicles that feature no steering wheels, accelerators or brakes, and are designed with a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour. They can ensure stable, safe and eco-friendly operations on urban open roads, express roads and tunnels, during peak traffic hours, and on rainy and snowy days.

Both employees and visitors can take a ride for free. Service hours are from 8 am to 10 pm on workdays, and 9 am to 6 pm on weekends, with a bus coming every 10 minutes. There are currently two routes: south line and north line, and a west line will be launched later.

Passengers can find the real-time location and status of Robobuses via the WeRide Go app, and access a detailed ride guide via the WeChat account WeRide Go.

A support center will conduct intelligent monitoring of the Robobuses to ensure safety. In addition, passengers can stop the vehicle with the emergency brake button if there is an emergency.
