Guangzhou-HK smart manufacturing cooperation park releases development plan

The 14th Five-Year Plan for the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Smart Manufacturing Cooperation Zone's Smart Manufacturing Cooperation Park (2021-25) was recently released, which proposes overall improvement in local economy, innovation, and quality of living.

The area will accelerate the integration of the one-hour transport circle with the criss-cross of the general aviation airport, water transportation, urban rail transits and expressways.

More helicopter routes are expected to open between Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao as well as water routes to Hong Kong International Airport, Tsim Sha Tsui and Macao International Airport, Panyu, Nansha and Tianhe.

Meanwhile, construction of Guangzhou Metro Line 5's extension line, Guangzhou Metro Line 25 and Huangpu Tram Line 2 will be pushed forward, and connections with Dongguan Rail Transit 1 and expressways leading to Dongguan and Panyu are also planned.

To improve the local quality of living, more residential community health stations, parks, and schools will be built in the area, and cooperation with renowned Hong Kong schools will also be explored.

The area will cultivate strategic emerging industries including new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing and biomedicine, while consolidating the advantageous industries like high-end daily use chemicals, food and beverages.
