Huangpu readies for transport infrastructure plans

Updated : 2021-12-14

The 14th Five-Year Plan for Guangzhou's Urban Infrastructure Development (2021-25) makes a comprehensive layout for the transportation projects in Huangpu district while soliciting public opinion.

According to the plan, a general aviation airport will be built in Huangpu to serve tourism demands and for emergency use. It will supplement the current two heliports and six helicopter aprons.

Construction of the Conghua-Huangpu Expressway and the Huangpu-Sanshui section from the Zengcheng-Foshan Expressway will be pushed forward. The former will feature a dual six-lane structure with a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour. It is expected to open in 2023.

Work on the southern section of the express road that connects China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and downtown Guangzhou will also be advanced. The Guangzhou Public Resource Trading Center has already released a public bid-invitation notice for survey and design.

The Huangpu old port area will also be transformed and upgraded per schedule with the development of waterborne leisure tourism, while the new port area will take over freight services with new intelligent automation.
