GDD receives plaque for national offshore entrepreneurship base

The plaque of the National Offshore Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Professionals was conferred to the Guangzhou Development District (GDD) at the launch ceremony of the 2021 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair on Dec 10.

The China Association for Science and Technology approved to build the National Offshore Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Professionals in GDD on Nov 18.

The establishment of the GDD base will be led by the government and involve developmental forces from State-owned enterprises, social organizations, service agencies, offshore innovation centers, and offshore cooperation bases. It is aimed at attracting overseas talent for offshore innovation and entrepreneurship in GDD. 

Featuring marketized operation, the National Offshore Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Professionals will be conducive to the in-depth integration of innovative overseas technologies and scientific research achievements and pillar industries in GDD. In addition, it will help turn China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City into an international talent harbor.

To date, the district has attracted 105 academicians and 1,166 high-level talents. Its local entrepreneurial teams account for 60 percent of Guangzhou's total, and its leading innovation talent accounts for 50 percent of Guangzhou's total.
