3 metro lines across Huangpu see construction progress

The main structure of Shuixi North Station and Shuixi Station's northern foundation pit, part of the second phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 7, were recently topped off.

Once construction is completed, the 22-kilometer metro line will run between Higher Education Mega Center South and Shuixi North stations.

In addition, work on Guangzhou Metro Line 13's phase II from Chaoyang to Yuzhu is 38 percent completed. Three of the 23 metro stations have been topped off, 19 are under construction and one is in the preparation stages. Of the 23 sections, three have been completed, 13 are under construction and seven are being prepared.

The east-west metro line connects core urban areas such as Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou International Financial City and the Lin'gang economic zone.

Meanwhile, construction on Guangzhou Metro Line 5's east extension line is 40 percent completed, and all six metro stations are under construction. Four of the six sections are being built and two are in the preparatory stages.

The east extension line spans 9.76 kilometers from Wenchong to the Huangpu Passenger Transport Terminal and features a maximum speed of 90 km per hour. It will greatly shorten travel time between Huangpu district and downtown Guangzhou.
