Updated : 2021-12-09

The right half of the 409-meter Shiwei Tunnel has recently achieved a breakthrough, which marked a further step of completing the Conghua-Huangpu Expressway.

Construction of the 61.71-kilometer Conghua-Huangpu Expressway is divided into two phases based on funds from the Guangzhou Communications Investment Group.

The expressway starts in Taiping town in Conghua district, and runs through Zhongluotan town and Taihe town in Baiyun district as well as China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City's (CSGKC) southern, central and northern areas before ending in Changlingju in Huangpu district. The dual six-lane expressway has a designated speed limit of 100 km per hour.

Once the expressway opens to traffic in 2023, drivers will be able to travel from northern CSGKC to Lin'gang in half an hour, and from Huangpu administrative center to Conghua's central area in 40 minutes.
