Huangpu is striving to become a gathering ground for enterprises and talent, said Xu Dan, deputy head of Guangzhou's Huangpu district, at a symposium on technological innovation and advanced manufacturing in Guangzhou on Dec 1.
Government officials, enterprises representatives, and scholars were invited to discuss how to build Huangpu into a center of innovation. Xu expressed her hope that Huangpu can attract more high-quality resources in the near future.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Huangpu will develop advanced manufacturing as it seeks to become an economic development and high-quality development demonstration zone in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
In 2021, the district's investment in research and development accounted for 5.71 percent of its total expenditures, the highest proportion ever for a district in Guangzhou.
Techtotop Microelectronecs Technology in Huangpu is the only Beidou satellite navigation chip company in China that has both RNSS and RDSS baseband chips as well as radio frequency chip research and development capabilities.
Huangpu is currently home to more than 40,000 companies such as Techtotop Microelectronecs Technology, 2,600 technology-based companies and 2,100 domestic high-tech enterprises.
Huangpu regards optimizing the business environment as the main focus of its reform efforts, and first plans to establish a business environment reform and innovation experimental zone in Guangdong province.
