Huangpu opens registration for popular hiking activity

The much-anticipated hiking activity in Guangzhou's Huangpu district began receiving registrations from Nov 24 to 30. The number of participants will be capped at 5,000.

In total, there are three hiking routes to choose from, and they all start at the Kexue Square. Families can choose the 5-kilometer parent-children route that passes by Shiziling, Yushu, Sports and Jianfengling parks.

The hiking routes pass by many landmarks in Guangzhou Science City.

Hiking enthusiasts can choose the 18-km hiking route that passes by Children's Park and ends at Huangpu Library. Extreme hikers, or those who want to challenge themselves, could sign up for the 48-km route, which passes by Tengxiang Bridge, Caiyun Bridge and Children's Park.

The hikers can take part in the hiking activities any day between Dec 1 and Dec 8, and track their progress at designated check-in spots along their route with their cellphone.

All the participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, a cap, a backpack, a facial mask, a scarf, and a certificate. Those who finish the hiking activity will be rewarded with a commemorative medal, and the top 1,340 participants will receive special gifts.

People interested in taking part in the hiking event can scan the QR code below to register. The registration fee is 48 yuan ($7.51).
