Huangpu hospitals rank high in comprehensive strength

Five Guangdong hospitals, which all have campuses in Guangzhou's Huangpu district, cracked the top 50 on the comprehensive ranking of Chinese hospitals in 2020 list. The ranking was recently released by Fudan University's Hospital Management Institute.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was ranked eighth in the country. Its east campus in Huangpu tops eastern Guangzhou in terms of scale and comprehensive strength, and is being developed into a treatment center for intractable cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University was placed 18th nationwide. Its China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) campus is expected to open in 2022 with 1,000 patient beds.

With a ranking of 28th, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University jointly operates a campus in Huangpu along with Dongsheng Hospital, which has departments for cardiology, neurology, neurological rehabilitation, geriatrics and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, which ranked 30th in the country, revealed its plan to build a new campus in Huangpu at a press conference that was themed around high-level hospital construction in Guangdong province in April.

The 33rd-ranked Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center saw its Huangpu campus in CSGKC come into operation in March. The facility will be able to offer 633 patient beds during its initial stage of operation. It focuses on tumor prevention and treatment while also engaging in other medical services, scientific research and teaching.
