Bioland Laboratory launches novel coronavirus genome analysis system

Updated : 2021-11-10

A big data-based novel coronavirus genome analysis system that was developed by Guangzhou Regenerative Medicine and Health Guangdong Laboratory (Bioland Laboratory) has recently been put online.

The system is able to realize the identification, classification, and trace of novel coronavirus variants. Meanwhile, it can monitor the virus' mutation frequency, analyze the S-protein mutants for vaccine R&D, create visuals of genome information, and assist doctors with virus screening.

Guangzhou Regenerative Medicine and Health Guangdong Laboratory (Bioland Laboratory) has developed a big data-based novel coronavirus genome analysis system.

In addition to Bioland Laboratory, other co-developers include the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Beijing Institute of Genomics, the Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences' Institute of Medical Biology, Sun Yat-sen University and Tongji University.

The launch of the system will provide strong support for fundamental scientific research as well as epidemic prevention, control and awareness. The next step for the laboratory is to share its data with medical institutions like the National Center for Respiratory Medicine to enhance the medical field's transformation and upgrading of the prevention and control of infectious diseases in the big data era.
