Updated : 2021-10-21

Several general aviation airports will be built in Guangzhou's Huangpu, Nansha and Conghua districts to serve the demands of tourism and emergency use, according to the Guangzhou's 14th Five-Year Plan for Transportation (2021-25).

As stated in the plan that was released by the municipal transportation bureau, Guangzhou is expected to have an annual air traveler throughput of 100 million as well as an annual cargo and mail throughput of 3.5 million tons by 2025.

In addition to the general aviation airport, Huangpu also has two helicopter pads and six helicopter aprons. One of the pads is located at the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Exit-Entry Building for the takeoff and landing of helicopters with no less than 10 passengers, and the other nearby pad is for air traffic control, fuel supply, engineering maintenance, and meteorological services.

The six helicopter aprons are located at an open space in front of the Jinkeng Reservoir dam, between the Huangpu district government building and Civic Square, on the rooftop of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Exit-Entry Building, as well as in the Huangpu Park and China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City squares and Shuimo Park.
