National technological innovation center to be built in Huangpu

A Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area national technological innovation center will be built in Guangzhou's Huangpu district, according to a press conference on Guangdong's 14th Five-Year Plan for Sci-Tech Innovation (2021-25), which was held on Oct 13.

The national technological innovation center will strive to solve the bottleneck problems and give a boost in integrated circuit and key software, biomedicine and devices as well as smart manufacturing and equipment sectors.

A press conference is held by the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province on Oct 13 to introduce Guangdong's 14th Five-Year Plan for Sci-Tech Innovation (2021-25).

It will consist of a strategic headquarters, nine branches and several demonstrative institutions for scientific and technological transformation to serve as a comprehensive technological research and transformation platform that spans different regions, disciplines and industries by 2025.

Construction of the headquarters will be pushed forward under the cooperation of Guangdong and Guangzhou governments and Tsinghua University. The facility will bring in the advanced achievements from Tsinghua as well as other domestic universities and scientific institutions, and have in-depth cooperation with leading enterprises and State key laboratories to address the key technological issues that restrict China's industrial development.
