Huangpu records 16.1% GDP increase in H1

Guangzhou's Huangpu district made great strides in socioeconomic development amid normalized epidemic prevention and control in the first half of this year.

The local GDP increased by 16.1 percent, which is higher than the national, provincial and municipal average. The total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size exceeded 400 billion yuan ($62 billion) for the first time, and fixed-asset investment surpassed 90 billion yuan for the first time.

The foreign trade value grew by 42.4 percent year on year to 172.7 billion yuan, and an increase of 14.1 percent was recorded in actual utilized foreign investment.

The district has carried out three rounds of mass nucleic acid tests in the first six months of this year. The number of nucleic acid test institutions accounted for 91 percent of Guangzhou's total, and the nucleic acid testing capability accounted for 94 percent of Guangdong's total.

It is expected that local GDP, fixed-asset investment, general public budget revenue, and total retail sales of consumer goods will have a respective increase of 10 percent, 20 percent, 5 percent and 7 percent in 2021. The foreign trade value will grow positively, and actual utilized foreign investment will reach $2 billion. Ownership of invention patents will be 135 per 10,000 people. The urban registered unemployment rate will be within 3.5 percent and 30,000 extra people will get employed.
