Diversified handicraft activities to kick off in late September

Updated : 2021-09-13

A raft of handicraft activities will be offered in Guangzhou's Huangpu district this month.

Art lovers can sign up for dried flower painting at the Dasha Branch of Huangpu Library on Sept 19. Dried flowers are an art of their own. However, the activity allows people to add their own creativity and embellishments.

Kong Yanyi, a member of the Huangpu Folk Artist Association will be invited to teach locals how to embroider moon-shaped fans at Wucun residential community in Huangpu sub-district.

Moon-shaped fans are round, with a silk cover and bamboo or wooden frames. They were considered a token of elegance and refinement on a lady's clothing in ancient times. Those interested in decorating the moon-shaped fans with Chinese-styled painting should visit the Dasha Branch of Huangpu Library on Sept 25.

The lantern-making activity at the Dasha Branch of Huangpu Library on Sept 20 is also a must-experience activity.

The registration information for the activities at the Huangpu Library can be found on the library's WeChat account hplibrary.
