Raft of projects settle, begin construction in Huangpu

A collective ceremony for project signing and groundbreaking was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Sept 8 to mark the 1st anniversary of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City's implementation of its overall development plan (2020-35).

Sixty-six projects involving new-generation information technology, biomedicine, and cryptography industries signed the settlement agreement, which will bring in a combined investment of 113.7 billion ($17.6 billion).

For instance, Guangzhou Regenerative Medicine and Health Guangdong Laboratory (Bioland Laboratory) and Guangzhou Hi-tech Investment Group will jointly set up an innovative COVID-19 vaccine production base. Akeso will build an Asia-Pacific headquarters for clinical research and operation.

Signing ceremony for biomedical and new-generation information technology projects.

Once the 66 projects come into operation, they are expected to generate an output value of 143.3 billion yuan.

Meanwhile, 54 projects related to the headquarters economy, livelihood, culture-creative and modern agriculture sectors began construction with a total investment of 101.7 billion yuan. They include a unicorn headquarters cluster, a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area materials institute, a vaccine R&D and production project, and KWG Education Group's bilingual school.

A cooperation agreement was signed between Huangpu government, Guangdong Development District Administrative Committee and China Development Bank's Guangdong Branch to provide more than 100 billion yuan in financing for 14 key industrial parks and projects.
