GDD bags 2 investment promotion awards in Xiamen

The Guangzhou Development District (GDD) pocketed two awards at the 19th Annual Conference of the Federation of Investment Promotion Agencies of China & Seminar on International Investment Promotion in Xiamen on Sept 7.

The GDD Administrative Committee was named an Outstanding Investment Promotion Agency, and Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell project was selected as an Outstanding Investment Promotion Project.

A cooperation agreement was signed between GDD and Hyundai on Jan 15. Construction of Hyundai's first overseas hydrogen fuel cell production and sales base began construction on March 2 with an investment of 8.5 billion yuan ($1.3 billion).

Currently, the district has become the most invested in area in South China with the settlement of nearly 1,000 high-quality projects including BeiGene, InnoCare Pharma and Lonza. It has forged economic and trade connections with more than 100 countries and regions across the world.

Three 100-billion-yuan industrial clusters related to automobile, electronics and energy have taken shape as well as four 50-billion-yuan industrial clusters related to biomedicine, chemical engineering, food and beverage, and electrical machinery.
