3 major industrial projects in Huangpu herald progress

Updated : 2021-09-02

Guangzhou's Huangpu district has recently made notable progress in key industrial projects including Sirnaomics' pharmaceutical innovation base, RNAimmune's vaccine R&D center and SGP International Management Academy (China).

Construction of China's first peptide nucleic acid nano-medicine innovation base was completed on Guangzhou International Bio Island in July. The 800-square-meter facility consists of a 300-sq-m pilot-production workshop and a 500-sq-m quality control lab. It is capable of producing 150,000 bottles of medicines, and marks the first step of the transition of domestic nucleic acid medicines from R&D to industrialization.

Meanwhile, the US-based RNAimmune plans to build an mRNA vaccine and drug R&D center on Guangzhou International Bio Island. The mRNA vaccine it developed for the Delta virus strain and other variants will file for approval at the United States Food and Drug Administration this year.

SGP International Management Academy (China) signed an agreement to settle in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City in February. It will be comprised of three educational training centers related to hospital management, strategic development planning, AI digital medicine, urban operation and management, and innovation and entrepreneurship bases as well as an Asia-Pacific health industry headquarters base.
