CSGKC blueprints come to life

Updated : 2021-08-23

The blueprints for the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) have gradually come to life since its overall development plan for the 2020-35 period was released in 2020.

Over the past year, 290 projects began construction in the CSGKC with a total investment of 573.6 billion yuan ($88.6 billion). Procter & Gamble's smart manufacturing center and the first phase of China Telecom's innovation incubation base were among 21 projects that came into operation.

The CSGKC's free port for international talent was launched in July to further improve the development environment and services for top minds. Peter Helis, chief advisor of the Guangzhou Development District investment promotion bureau, noted that the free port provides 10 advantageous policies that are rather attractive to the global workforce and he could not find policies such as these in any other countries.

As of now, the CSGKC has attracted 21 academicians, more than 400 high-caliber talents, and more than 3,500 postgraduate and doctoral students that provide strong intellectual support for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as an international scientific and technological innovation center.

Residents live in an environment that is being built with Singapore's "garden city" concept, enjoy an increasingly smart transport system, and have access to high-quality services with a host of high-quality educational projects such as Guangzhou SingChin Academy and high-level medical institutions such as Huangpu Campus of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.
