Huangpu practices emergency drills for COVID-19

Guangzhou's Huangpu district launched emergency drills for the COVID-19 pandemic in its Huangpu, Xiagang, Lianhe and Luogang sub-districts on Aug 13.

The district health, publicity, development and reform, commerce, public security, education, transport, and culture, radio, television and tourism bureaus took part in the drills along with the Huangpu Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local medical outlets and community health service centers.

The one-hour-and-a-half event simulates the scenarios including epidemiological investigation, transfer and quarantine of patients, mass nucleic acid testing, the screening of key groups of people at risk of infection in residential communities, and supportive services after a confirmed case is reported.

Wu Deping, an expert from the Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, spoke highly of the drill for its planning, smooth procedures, and science and technology-empowered efficiency.

The recent anti-epidemic work of Huangpu will focus on the screening and management of people arriving from medium and high-risk COVID-19 areas, and providing mass vaccination to local residents. Management of the hotels for centralized quarantine will be strengthened, as will supervision of fever clinics across the district.
