Huangpu hosts 'Maker in Guangdong' competition final

The final of the 2021 "Maker in Guangdong" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Digital and Intelligent Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Aug 6.

The enterprise and maker groups each had six teams that competed in the final where they demonstrated the most cutting-edge technologies and highest-quality projects in the digital economy sector via PowerPoints, videos and pictures.

The final of the 2021 "Maker in Guangdong" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Digital and Intelligent SMEs showcases innovative talents in Huangpu on Aug 6.

After giving their speeches and oral defenses, experts assessed the teamwork, commercial prospects, and technological levels of the projects from enterprise group, as well as the practical value, environment friendliness, maturity and innovation of the projects from maker group. One first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes were awarded to each group.

The quality of this year's projects has showed a significant increase from those of previous years by covering a wide range of agriculture, industry and service sector products, which reflects that the digital economy is permeating all sorts of sectors throughout the country, said Wang Yu, deputy general manager of CASICloud Data Research Institute (Guangdong).

One of the second prize winners created a water surface robot and a smart management platform that were used at the first China International Import Expo.
