Guangzhou Development District was ranked as one of the Top 10 Industrial Parks for High-Quality Development, Reform and Innovation at the Conference on High-Quality Development and International Cooperation of Chinese Cities.
The conference was hosted by the Global Times under the guidance of the People's Daily in Beijing on July 24.
Gu Xiaobin, the GDD Administrative Committee's chief economist, gave an overview of the district's achievements in business environment reform, innovation and high-quality development at the conference, which was highly acclaimed by the attendees.
GDD ranks as one of the Top 10 Industrial Parks for High-Quality Development, Reform and Innovation at the Conference on High-Quality Development and International Cooperation of Chinese Cities on July 24.
The GDD was home to 220,000 market entities by the end of 2020. Local GDP was 360 billion yuan ($55.33 billion) in 2020, the fiscal and tax revenue surpassed 130 billion yuan and the total industrial output of enterprises above designated size exceeded 800 billion yuan.
The district has regarded business environment optimization as a top priority for propelling high-quality development in recent years. It launched a 4.0 edition of its business environment reform in March and proposed 168 reform measures to foster a SMILE business motto, which stands for systematization, marketization, internationalization, legalization and efficient facilitation.
Local enterprises have benefitted from the facilitated market access, streamlined administrative procedures, smart government services, innovative intellectual property rights exertion, and generous talent policies.
