Huangpu metro heralds progress

Construction of three metro lines that run through Guangzhou's Huangpu district has heralded further progress.

The second phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 13, which terminates at Yuzhu Station, has been 33 percent completed. Of the 23 stations along the route, two have been topped off, 19 are under construction, and two are in preparation. Three of the 23 sections have achieved breakthroughs, 11 sections are under construction and nine are in preparation.

Work on the second phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 7 has been 43 percent completed. The 22-kilometer metro line will run through Shenjing, Changzhou, Hongshengsha, Yufengwei, Dashadong, Jitang, Jiazhuang, Kefeng Road, Luogang, Shuixi and Shuixi North stations. One of the 11 stations has been completed, while construction of the other 10 are underway. Nine of the 11 sections are being built, and two are in preparation.

The project will not only meet the travel demands in eastern Guangzhou, but also enhance the connection between Guangzhou and Foshan.

In addition, the 9.76-km east extension line of Guangzhou Metro 5 that passes through Shuanggang, Miaotou Road, Xiayuan, Baoying Avenue, Guangzhou Development District and Huangpu Passenger Transport Terminal has been 29 percent completed. All six stations are being built and four of the six sections have entered construction. 

Upon completion, the extension line will facilitate the travel between Huangpu and downtown Guangzhou.
