Guangzhou Maritime Museum opens its door in Huangpu

The Guangzhou Maritime Museum, which showcases the history and culture of Guangzhou's maritime trade and exchanges with foreign countries, officially opened in Huangpu district on June 29.

Covering 35,738 square meters east of Nanhai God Temple, the museum has a total floor area of 10,000 sq m for exhibits related to maritime affairs, in particular the Maritime Silk Road. The exhibits include a wide collection of porcelain unearthed from shipwrecks.

In addition, the spices and drug shipment examples unearthed from the South China Sea are also more richly varied than those in other Guangzhou museums.

The permanent exhibition at the museum is themed on Guangzhou and the Maritime Silk Road during the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties, while there are also thematic and characteristic exhibitions.

Opening hours: 9 am to 5 pm (no entry after 4:30 pm), Tuesdays to Sundays

Transport:

Take Bus B1, B1 Express, B30, B26, B28, B29 or B31to Nanhai God Temple Station and walk 2 kilometers along East Huangpu Road.

Take Metro Line 13 to Nanhai God Temple Station (C2 exit) and walk 2 km along East Huangpu Road.
