Since May 28, eight hydrogen cold-chain vehicles made by Xiongchuan Hydrogen Energy Science and Technology (Guangzhou) have been sent to Liwan's Zhongnan sub-district - which is locked down due to a COVID-19 resurgence - to help with the transportation of daily necessities.
The cold-chain vehicles run six to eight trips daily, supplying rice, flour, grain, oil, drinks, water and 25 varieties of vegetables and meat to people who are quarantining at home. In addition to their cold storage capabilities and spacious interiors, the vehicles last a long time on one tank of fuel and cause no pollution.

Yang Yuanshi, director of the Huangpu development and reform bureau, noted that hydrogen vehicles will become one of the major means of transport in the future, and will help China maximize its carbon emissions by 2030 before achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
Xiongchuan Hydrogen Energy Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is based in Guangzhou's Huangpu district and focuses on the manufacturing of hydrogen equipment and the application of hydrogen energy. It now operates a total of 41 hydrogen cold-chain vehicles.
