Huangpu's scientific and technological resources - varying from autonomous driving vehicles to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and an inflatable laboratory - are being deployed to assist with the anti-epidemic fight in Guangzhou.
WeRide, China's leading Level 4 autonomous driving company, sent its Mini Robobuses and Robotaxis to the locked down area in Liwan district on June 4 to help with supply transportation.
Both vehicle types are fully autonomous, which can reduce the risks of cross infection. Without steering wheels, accelerators or brakes, the Robobuses boast a high transportation efficiency, with a capacity of 1.2 tons.
In addition, Baidu Apollo also sent autonomous driving logistics vehicles with a capacity of 500 kilograms, grocery delivery vehicles, Apolongs with a capacity of 1 ton, Robobuses with a capacity of 2 tons, and Robotaxis.
Guangzhou KingMed Diagnostics Group has taken the lead in the country in launching UAV routes for delivering medical samples. The distance between Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital and the company's headquarters laboratory has been cut from 30 to 10 minutes, as the UAVs are not subject to traffic jams during peak hours.
To increase the city's capacity to administer nucleic acid tests, the enterprise also set up four inflatable laboratories at Guangzhou Gymnasium. Each one of them can receive samples around the clock and issue results within 24 hours. Together, they have a testing capacity of 120,000 samples daily.
