Huangpu launches mass COVID-19 screening drill

Guangzhou's Huangpu district launched a mass COVID-19 screening test drill at Kecheng community in Luogang sub-district on June 1, with throat swab samples of 6,672 people collected in four hours.

Different areas were earmarked for temperature measurement, information registration, waiting, sample collection, storage and quarantine. Only those with a normal body temperature could enter the sample collection area.

The number of people in the information registration and waiting areas was capped at 100, while the number in the sample collection area was capped at 10. All of them were required to keep a distance of 1 meter between each other.

In addition, medical staff, volunteers and security guards were attired in protective suits, disposable shoe covers, N95 masks and gloves.

The drill was aimed at increasing the rapid response capability of Huangpu when a new case emerges, by practicing the entire mass screening process from sample collection to delivery and testing.
