The unveiling ceremony of China's first labor dispute research institute in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district.

China's first labor dispute research institute in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area unveiled its plaque in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on May 13.

The research institute will take the lead in China in carrying out frontier theoretical research and dispute mediation on labor relations relating to Hong Kong and Macao. It is expected to promote the free flow of innovative elements between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and make contributions to the construction of the Greater Bay Area.

The first batch of 14 experts received their letters of appointment during the event. All these experts are from institutes such as universities, courts, and labor and personnel arbitration agencies from the Chinese mainland.

More experts from Hong Kong and Macao are expected to be appointed by the institute to increase its influence.

"The construction of a bay area at a top global level requires special talent protection and labor security mechanisms," said Zuo Mengxin, deputy head of the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province. "Measures such as innovating labor dispute governance mechanisms, establishing stable labor relationships and building a world-class business environment are of vital importance to the construction of the Greater Bay Area."

Mao Dongbai, deputy head of Huangpu district, said that harmonious labor relationships play an important role in the local business environment.

The district is scheduled to become a pioneer in China through setting up a pluralistic dispute settlement mechanism for labor disputes in the Greater Bay Area by 2025, and forming a number of replicable experiences for the country.
