Huangpu consortium to optimize biz environment via legalization

Guangdong's first district-level consortium that strives to optimize legal safeguards for its business environment was established in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on May 10.

The consortium was initiated by the local Office of Rule of Law and the Leading Group Office for Overall Business Environment Optimization. It has 47 members covering government departments, universities and colleges, associates, chambers of commerce and social organizations; and more may join in the future.

The think tank will be committed to assisting with major reforms and innovation, improving policy systems, strengthening administrative law enforcement supervision and judicial safeguards, optimizing dispute resolution mechanisms, promoting policy publicity and interpretation, and establishing effective coordination and implementation mechanisms.

Fifteen typical cases showing how Huangpu could optimize its business environment through legalization were released that day. For example, Huangpu district people's court saw a year-on-year increase of 659 percent in pre-litigation mediation cases in 2020. The average time for commercial dispute resolution was lessened by 35 days.
