20b yuan worth of projects to boost Guangzhou-Macao cooperation

Projects with a total investment of more than 20 billion yuan ($3.05 billion) signed on April 8 to settle in Huangpu district at a ceremony in celebration of century-old Guangzhou-Macao cooperation.

The district will advance three key Guangzhou-Macao cooperation projects – the Guangzhou-Macao Pilot Demonstration Zone for Knowledge Cooperation, Macao Center and Macao Tower.

Located in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, the Guangzhou-Macao Pilot Demonstration Zone for Knowledge Cooperation will be built into a modern, comprehensive and open science and technology park with international influence.

The zone will push forward the industrial integration and upgrading of scientific and educational innovation, intelligent manufacturing, biological safety and health, and manufacturing of medical equipment and traditional Chinese medicine equipment between Guangzhou and Macao.

With a height of 180 meters, the Macao Tower will become a new landmark north of Jiulong Lake. It will serve as a transnational headquarters base for Portuguese-speaking countries, and house a consulate service center, an international convention center, an international hotel, talent apartments, an international makers' working area and a Portuguese cultural hall.

The Macao Center is positioned as a commercial complex and a headquarters base for scientific and technological finance and digital economy. In addition, it will also bring in Macao influences to create a cultural and artistic block.
