Guangzhou's Huangpu district launched China's first WeChat mini program for emergency management on March 29.

The Huangpu emergency management bureau will issue public notices about natural disasters and health and safety, among other things, via the mini program.

Locals can not only receive warnings about extreme weather events such as typhoons, thunderstorms and downpours, but are also able to report emergencies including floods, fires, and geological disasters via GPS positioning, descriptions, photos or videos.

Information related to emergency departments, shelters, hospitals and rescue teams can be accessed through the mini program, which also provides videos, courses and the latest case studies from across the world to spread best practice in emergency prevention and response.
