Huangpu to complete old village demolition by year end

Guangzhou's Huangpu district will strive to complete the demolition of old villages by the end of this year to improve their appearances and support facilities, and to diversify their industries.

In Huangpu sub-district, all houses in Zhujiang village will be demolished before July, while those in Yufengwei will be demolished by the year's end. Reconstruction of Xinxi village will begin before July 1. The First and Second Gangwan villages will launch the construction of model rooms and exhibition halls.

Elsewhere in Dasha sub-district, Hengsha village kicked off the collective demolition of 16,000 square meters of houses on March 3, and Jitang community nailed down its plans for old village transformation on Jan 30.

The southern part of Nangang sub-district will complete the transformation of its old village by the end of this year, while that of the northern area will be completed before June 30, 2022.

Moreover, the Suidong sub-district launched the collective demolition of houses in three communities in early January. The Nanwan community, in particular, will be built into a cultural-creative small town.

The Luofeng community in Luogang sub-district will have demolished rundown houses by the end of June, while six major old village transformation projects in Changling sub-district will be finished before Sept 28.
