Chinese tech company Baidu launched its Apollo Park in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on March 8, as a testing base for autonomous vehicles and their applications in various scenarios.
Covering 30,000 square meters, the industrial park integrates multiple functions including remote big data-based cloud control, operation command, vehicle maintenance and calibration, and product exhibitions. It houses China's first demonstration base for Mobility as a Service, a consumer-centric platform that integrates all kinds of autonomous driving services.

Taking the flower market held in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City this February as an example, Apollo deployed five types of autonomous driving vehicle to meet different demands. Besides taxis and buses, there are also patrol vehicles and road sweepers in the autonomous vehicle fleet.
In the future, Baidu will launch hundreds of autonomous driving vehicles and nearly 1,000 pickup stations in Huangpu. Autonomous driving will become a familiar concept in the daily lives of Guangzhou residents.
