Huangpu to strive for 1 trillion yuan manufacturing sector

Guangzhou's Huangpu district hosted a conference on March 5 to review its achievements in industrial development and scientific and technological innovation during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), and to map out its plans for the next five years.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Huangpu fostered its electronic information and its automobile manufacturing industries, each worth more than 150 billion yuan ($22.97 billion). Local industrial output was valued at more than 800 billion yuan, accounting for more than 40 percent of the city's total. The district's capabilities in scientific and technological innovation ranked first among all national economic development zones.

Currently, Huangpu is home to 1,117 industrial enterprises above designated size. Its regional GDP increased by 4.1 percent to 366.3 billion yuan and the total output of its industrial enterprises above designated size reached 803.3 billion yuan.

A conference is held on March 5 to review Huangpu's achievements in industrial development and scientific and technological innovation during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and to map out a plan for the next five years.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Huangpu will advance a 1 trillion yuan manufacturing plan with scaled, new-generation information technology, automobile manufacturing, new materials, green energy, biological technology, high-end equipment and healthy food industrial clusters.

By 2025, it will foster a strategic scientific and technological innovation cluster and strive for a 100 billion yuan increase in annualized industrial output value. There will be more than 1,500 industrial enterprises above designated size in Huangpu with a total output of more than 1.4 trillion yuan. Local industrial investment will exceed 300 billion yuan.
