Press conference outlines latest epidemic control measures

A press conference was held by the information office of Guangzhou municipal people's government on Jan 18 to provide an update on the city's latest epidemic prevention and control measures.

With Spring Festival approaching, the Guangzhou public security bureau will strengthen the supervision of mass gatherings such as large celebrations and dinner parties. Public spaces including shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels and cinemas will be strictly controlled with body temperature measurements and health code examinations.

Inbound travelers will be subjected to a 14-day centralized quarantine and a seven-day community quarantine, while the management of people arriving from domestic medium or high-risk areas will be tightened. Tour groups to medium or high-risk areas are forbidden, and overseas travel has not yet been resumed.

Guangzhou universities will arrange for students to leave and return to campus in batches. Those whose hometown is a medium or high-risk area are advised to stay on campus during the winter vacation.

The details of customers buying cough and fever remedies at drugstores will be registered. People placing orders online should pick up their drugs at stores, with delivery services forbidden. 

Local market supervision authorities will conduct closed-loop management on imported cold-chain foods. All key groups of people including people handling cold chain imported food, workers at quarantine venues, cross-border transport drivers, and front-line healthcare and epidemic control personnel should receive a vaccine shot.
