A total of 200 volunteers went on a public welfare tour to Jingxia village, China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Dec 18 to boost local rural rejuvenation efforts.

Divided into six teams, the volunteers painted local walls to emphasize the original countryside scenery, bolstering Jingxia into a boutique village with Lingnan (Cantonese) characteristics.

In addition, they also collected garbage along the rural roads and sorted it at the end of their hike. The activity aimed to promote garbage sorting, as well as to help Jingxia develop ecological tourism.

A fair was held on the same day in which the volunteers sold local agricultural products for charity sales. Some of the revenue will be donated to the Huangpu Youth Poverty Alleviation Fund.

The tour was organized by CapitaLand in collaboration with the CSGKC Development and Construction Office, Enterprise Singapore, CSGKC Investment & Development Co, Guangzhou Huangpu Huiyuan School, and Guangzhou Qingteng Social Service Center.
