Guangzhou Huangpu Marathon begins registration

Registration for the 2020 Guangzhou Huangpu Marathon has begun at 2 pm on Nov 25, and will last until 2 pm on Dec 2.

Applicants should be in good health condition. In addition to Chinese mainland runners, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign runners with long-term residence in China can also sign up for the event.

Participants in the full marathon must be aged over 20, while participants in the half-marathons must be aged over 16. Applicants in both categories should hold a certificate of their previous participation in a half marathon or higher level after Jan 1, 2018.

There is no age restriction for participants in the mini marathon. However, runners that are 13 years old or younger should take part in the event accompanied by a legal guardian.

The event is able to have a maximum of 20,000 participants. If the number of applicants exceeds 20,000, the eligibility will be determined by lottery. The results of the lottery will be announced on Dec 5.

The fee to register is 160 yuan ($32), 130 yuan, and 80 yuan for the full marathon, half marathon, and mini marathon respectively.

Runners with 18 points or above in the 2019 Zhongti ranking, runners that have made a donation of 800 yuan for public welfare purposes, and runners that have participated in the Guangzhou Huangpu Marathon for three consecutive years or who have met the performance requirements to be deemed an elite runner can qualify immediately.

The event will be held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Dec 27. Participants are required to comply with local COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures.
