Guangzhou's Huangpu district will build a general airport by 2035, according to the Layout Plan of General Airports in Guangdong Province (2020-35) recently released by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

According to the layout plan, Guangdong will operate 32 general airports, with a density of 1.8 general airports per 10,000 square kilometers by 2025.

The province will have 57 general airports, with a density of 3.2 general airports per 10,000 sq km by 2035. General airport service will cover all Guangdong counties by the end of 2035, approaching the level of advanced countries and regions around the world.

Huangpu will build a general airport by 2035.

To date, Guangdong has nine general airports in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Yangjiang, Zhanjiang, and Yunfu. An additional 48 general airports will be built in the prosperous cities in the Pearl River Delta, as well as the eastern, western, and northern parts of the province.

Of note, a general airport layout centered around Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai will take shape in the Pearl River Delta for business, urban patrol, emergency response, leisure and entertainment, as well as flight training. It will boost the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's efforts in becoming a world-class city cluster.
