Guangzhou Daily: Huangpu GDP records 2% increase during Q1-3

Huangpu records a regional GDP of 259.71 billion yuan in the first three quarters of this year.

The regional GDP of Guangzhou's Huangpu district reached 259.71 billion yuan ($39 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, up 2 percent year-on-year.

During the January to September period, the output value of industrial enterprises above designated size dropped 1 percent year-on-year to 564.95 billion yuan, a decrease of 7.2 percent compared with that in the first half of this year.

Of note, the output value of industrial enterprises above designated size tallied a record-breaking growth rate of 11 percent in the third quarter of this year.

The demands for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control has prompted the rapid growth of chemical raw materials and chemical product manufacturing, as well as the biomedical manufacturing industry, which increased by 10 percent and 58 percent respectively in the first three quarters of this year.

The commodity turnover rose 13.6 percent to 699.84 billion yuan in the first nine months of this year, ranking first in Guangzhou. The total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 81.29 billion yuan, an increase of 14 percent.

Local fixed-asset investment grew by 17 percent year-on-year to more than 100 billion yuan, 4.7 percent higher than that in the first half of this year.
