Metro line 28 to connect Guangzhou with 3 other Guangdong cities

Guangzhou residents will be able to reach Foshan, Dongguan and Huizhou by proposed metro line 28 in the not-too-distant future.

Guangzhou Metro recently opened public bidding for research on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area transport network optimization and passenger volume forecasting. The research objects include Guangzhou metro lines 18, 22 and 28, as well as Guangzhou-Qingyuan, Xintang-Baiyun-Guangzhou North, and Guangzhou-Foshan Ring intercity railways.

The main route of the east-west metro line 28 will span Foshan, Guangzhou and Dongguan. Its Guangzhou section will connect Liwan, Haizhu, Huangpu and Zengcheng, while covering key areas such as Baietan, Pazhou, Guangzhou's Second Central Business District and the Eastern Coastal Development Belt.

The feeder of metro line 28 will start from Xintang Station, pass through Gualyu New Area in Zengcheng district and stretch further to Huizhou. The maximum speed of the eight-wagon metro will be 160 kilometers per hour.
