Overseas returnee, design small towns to rise in CSGKC

Updated : 2020-10-10

Construction of an 'Overseas Returnee Small Town' and a 'Design Small Town' has been proposed for the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) in Guangzhou's Huangpu district.

A cooperation agreement was recently signed by SCI Group and Beijing Huarui Jintai Investment Co Ltd. They will invest 1.9 billion yuan ($284 million) to build the Chinese mainland's first Overseas Returnee Small Town in northern CSGKC.

The 378-mu (25-hectare) small town will be committed to the development of biomedicine and intellectual property sectors. It will encompass enterprise headquarters, scientific research centers for medical treatment, international schools, high-end talent apartments, top-level think tanks, and health management institutions.

The operations team will bring in outstanding overseas returnees, promote high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship projects and host Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area forums in the small town.

In the meantime, a 43,700-square-meter Design Small Town will pop up in southern CSGKC with an investment of 700 million yuan by SCI Group. It will bring in international first-class design industries to form a boutique business and office cluster.
