GDD wins 2 awards at investment promotion conference

The award ceremony of the 18th Annual Conference of Federation of Investment Promotion Agencies of China & Seminar on International Investment Promotion is held in Xiamen on Sept 7.

Guangzhou Development District (GDD) has picked up two awards at the 18th Annual Conference of Federation of Investment Promotion Agencies of China & Seminar on International Investment Promotion, which was held in Xiamen, Fujian province on Sept 7.

The GDD Administrative Committee was named an Outstanding Investment Promotion Agency in 2020, while the Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) project of LG Display was the sole nominee in the Outstanding Investment Promotion Project in 2020 category.

With a total investment of 46 billion yuan ($7 billion), the project features the production lines of the world's largest and most advanced 8.5-generation OLED. It is able to produce 90,000 substrates per month which can be used for 4K ultra-high-definition televisions at 55, 65 or 77 inches.

With the support of GDD, the project took only 18 months to complete construction and begin operations. Its presence alone has attracted more than 30 upstream and downstream enterprises to settle in the area. Together they form an influential flat panel display industrial cluster whose output value is set to reach 120 billion yuan by 2022.
