The launch ceremony for the national supervision and inspection center for the quality of air purification products is held on Aug 17 in Huangpu district.

The launch ceremony for the national supervision and inspection center for the quality of air purification products was held on Aug 17 in Guangzhou's Huangpu district, gathering more than 200 guests including experts and representatives from relevant companies.

The recommendation to the State Administration for Market Regulation for the construction of the center was jointly made by Zhong Nanshan, a prominent Chinese respiratory disease expert, and the Guangzhou municipal science and technology bureau.

Outstanding scientific parties such as Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology, the State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease of Guangzhou Medical University and Shenzhen University will team up to build standardized laboratories and regulate industrial standards for the air purification industry, as well as providing professional testing services for the air purification market.

The center, built by Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology, is expected to finish construction by December 2021. An expert committee composed of two academicians and eight professors will be set up after the completion of the center and Zhong will be the director of the committee.

Xia Fenggeng, director of the Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology, said that the construction of the center will fill in the gaps in China's supervision and inspection of the quality of air purification products, and also contribute to an increase in China's air purification products' international competiveness.
