2 Huangpu companies enter Fortune 500 list

Two Huangpu companies were included on the 2019 Fortune 500 list, which was released on Aug 10, namely China Southern Power Grid and Cedar Holdings.

A total of 124 companies from the Chinese mainland including Hong Kong were included on the list, surpassing the number of companies from the United States for the first time, which had 121.

Cedar Holdings, a private company based in Guangzhou, was included on the list for the third consecutive year since 2018. It is the only private company in Guangzhou to make the list.

The company ranked 296th, with a revenue of $41.28 billion, five places higher than that in 2018.

Set up in 1997, Cedar Holdings has developed into a pioneer in managing staple commodities in China. It has also made innovations in advanced technologies, such as making breakthroughs in chemical new materials to increase the added value of chemical materials, pushing forward the development of the copper-based new materials industry, as well as actively participating in 5G industry development.

Efforts have also been made by Cedar Holdings to expand their global supply chain as the company has branches in Asia, Africa, Europe, and America.

China Southern Power Grid ranked 105th on the list, with a revenue of $81.98 billion, five places higher than that in 2018.

China Southern Power Grid has invested 38.44 billion yuan ($5.53 billion) in scientific research and development in the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020). Currently, the company possesses 20 key laboratories at the national or provincial level and 27,853 valid patents.
