Guangzhou Daily: Huangpu tram line records over 8,000 passengers a day

Huangpu tram line 1 transported 8,081 passengers on July 5, a record number for a single day.

The tram line, which has been operating from 6:30 to 22:00 since July 1, has now reached an average daily passenger volume of 5,807. Changping Station, which is connected to the Guangzhou Metro Line, had seen the highest passenger flow among all stations by July 7, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the overall number.

A person in charge of the company running Guangzhou's tram lines said that more trains will be put into operation and operation times will be extended in the future in line with increased passenger flow, to better meet the demands of passengers.

Huangpu tram line 1 will be further extended to the south with an overall length of 14.4 kilometers, and the whole line will be connected by the end of 2020.
