The People's Daily Overseas Edition published a work written by Jiang Zilong on June 22, which fully showcases the charm of Guangzhou's Huangpu district.
In China, Jiang is known as the pioneer of "reform literature" that focuses on the country's reform and opening up, which began in the late 1970s. One of Jiang's famous works was "Empires of Dust", which examines the changes in China's rural development from the 1950s through to the early 21st century.
Titled "Dao Huangpu Qu" (Going to Huangpu), the work introduced the history of Huangpu in its first part, noting that Huangpu has been a busy ancient port for more than 1,000 years.
The second part of the work started with the establishment of Guangzhou Development District in Huangpu, citing several stories of high-caliber talents starting businesses or conducting scientific research in the area. In the work, Jiang added that the ancient Huangpu port has been developing into a port for international talents.
