Huangpu holds district's first competition on air emergency skills

Updated : 2020-06-16

The finals of a competition on air emergency skills was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on June 12, featuring 12 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) winning groups out of 28 preliminary competitors.

Held under the guidance of Ehang Intelligent Equipment Co, a high-tech drone manufacturer founded in Huangpu district in 2014, the competition was the first of its kind on air emergency skills in the district.

As the operation of UAVs can be influenced by various factors, such as operation mistakes, signal failures, and weather, the event didn't allow on-site audience to see the competition. Instead, the whole event was live streamed online.

At present, UAVs have been widely applied in various fields, such as evacuations, supply transportation, air emergency communications support, and water rescue.

"The development of the UAV industry has been an inexorable trend and Huangpu has devoted efforts to further promote the development of local high-end manufacturing," said a person in charge of the Huangpu emergency management bureau.
