Experts share ideas on innovative development of GDD

The seventh symposium on the innovative development of national development districts and high-tech districts was held on June 10 in Guangzhou Development District (GDD).

The symposium, which was held in the form of a roundtable conference, attracted experts to deliver speeches on turning GDD into a world-class cluster for innovative industries.

Shen Tiyan, vice president of the Beijing Development Institute of Peking University, said that GDD should make full use of opportunities, such as new manufacturing and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to build a world-class innovative industrial cluster featuring biosafety in China. 

Shen noted that efforts should be made in turning GDD into a global center for biosafety, as well as an international demonstration for biosafety. 

Yang Zaigao, vice president of the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences, said that cultivating backbone companies in smart manufacturing will be of great importance in the future. GDD should attract world-class research and development institutes, including universities, to settle in the area.
