A new machine for borrowing and returning books that applies the cutting-edge recognition technology of scanning people's palm veins made its debut at Huangpu Public Library in May, making the library the first of its kind to use this technology.
The machine was developed under the joint research on the application of artificial intelligence in libraries among Huangpu Public Library and two local high-tech companies, Tuodi Technology and Melux.
The machine allows users to use their palm instead of cards like personal identification cards to let the machine know who they are within 0.3 seconds by simply waving their palms.
The machine uses bio-identification technology, with extremely high security, which is capable of sensing millions of dimensional micro-feature characteristic points, such as major veins and capillaries, as well as determines the uniqueness of these characteristics.
