Huangpu gains momentum in developing digital economy

Guangzhou's Huangpu district welcomed 16 major digital infrastructure projects during a signing ceremony on May 8, involving an overall investment of 56.6 billion yuan ($8 billion), accounting for one third of the total number of the city.

The projects cover various areas, such as artificial intelligence, big data, and digital industry.

Huangpu has signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Baidu to jointly construct a demonstration area for smart networks in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Baidu will carry out strategic cooperation with Huangpu in areas including autonomous driving and smart transportation, boosting the development of Guangzhou's digital infrastructure.

Power China will lay out its projects valued at over 10 billion yuan in Huangpu, making full use of advanced technologies like the internet, big data, and artificial intelligence, as well as participating in the infrastructure construction spanning 5G networks, the Internet of Things, metro lines, and sponge cities. 

In addition, the base in Huangpu for smart automobiles and Baidu’s autonomous driving project Apollo unveiled its plaque during the ceremony.
